Watch the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet ‘Float Out’ of the enclosed building dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Thousands of guests lined the shore to enjoy the two-hour event complete with fireworks spectacular and appearance by Captain Mickey Mouse.

The special occasion is one of the final stages of construction for the Disney Fantasy, which sets sail for her maiden voyage March 31.

In 1986, Osborne Jennings strung 1,000 Christmas lights on his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, as a Christmas gift for his daughter. His display continued to grow each year and was brought to Disney in 1995 for all guests to enjoy.

Final Building Block Added to Disney Fantasy

The final building block of the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Fantasy, was placed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

This major milestone in Fantasy construction means the exterior portion of the ship is complete and the work will now focus on the interior.

The final block placed was a 265-ton portion of the ship’s bow, complete with the signature Disney Cruise Line golden filigree. Watch the cranes put the final building block into place in this fun time-lapse video.
