This video gives you a look at the “mock-up” room at the shipyard where actual elements of the ship’s interior are assembled together for the project team to review and approve before being installed on the ship. With exterior construction of the ship complete the work has shifted to outfitting interior spaces. The Disney Dream will have a wide array of interior looks – from the whimsical children’s spaces to the trendy and sophisticated adult lounges. Pretty cool stuff, check it out!

‘Radiator Springs Racers’ Testing Underway

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the early ride testing for the prototype vehicle of Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure park. The bright cars will each carry six guests through the twists and turns of Ornament Valley, covering nearly half of the 12 acres in Cars Land.

This thrilling new attraction is set to open in 2012, a part of the expansion project underway at Disney California Adventure.

First-Look: Main Street Electrical Parade Returns to Walt Disney World Resort

Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade marches through the Magic Kingdom this summer, twinkling with approximately half a million lights. One of the original floats, the “Title Drum Unit” near the beginning of the parade, was created using an actual bass drum, one of the world’s largest in 1972. This drum had been used in Disneyland parades in the 1960s, when Mickey Mouse used to beat it using large drumsticks. The beloved parade returns to Magic Kingdom to headline “Summer Nightastic!” June 6 through Aug. 14, 2010.

The nearly 1,200 fountains in ‘World of Color’ are a spectacular combination of water, fire, color, music … and dancing. Walt Disney Imagineers wanted the “stars” of the show to move like humans, so they turned to professional choreographer and dancer Joshua Horner to give the fountains life, character and emotion. Ever stop and think of how the tiniest detail - like how to make a pirate’s outfit look battled and bruised - is actually produced?

There aren’t many companies that have to come up with a way to make clothes look dirty. At Disneyland Resort, this was a very real challenge for the costume designers in charge of Pirates’ costumes. In fact, the costuming department had to use a process called ’sublimation’ (where dye is added to the fabric in patterns) to build each stain. Take a look at how this process works.

A completely re-imagined version of Disney Cruise Line’s signature restaurant is being prepared for the Disney Dream (2011) - take an exclusive fly-through at how the restaurant will look when you first arrive. As your meal progresses, the restaurant begins an enchanting transformation and the artwork around the room magically fills with bubbles, revealing scenes of a vivid undersea environment. It’s as if the dining room has been transported under the sea and the artwork has turned into windows providing incredible views of a colorful coral reef and creatures that reside on the reef.

As with all Disney stories, this dining experience has a tremendous finale moment - but you’ll have to sail on the Disney Dream and experience it for yourself.

Behind the Magic: King Arthur Carrousel

It takes a lot of work to make the horses of King Arthur Carrousel - each of which is a genuine antique, older than Disneyland itself - look “brand new” each morning. The preservation of the horses involves pulling them off the Carrousel, replacing them with “alternates,” repairing them, sanding them, refining them and ultimately repainting them. Not only are they antiques, they’re probably among the most well-maintained antiques in the world, considering they have guests bouncing up and down on them for hours a day, every day of the year.

You might be surprised to hear that -

The original fleet of horses came from Canada
All of the Carrousel horses are made of wood
There is one cast member whose sole responsibility is to take care of all 85 horses
There are 72 horses on King Arthur Carrousel at a time

A Disneyland Resort cast member, Rick Temple, tells us how King Arthur Carrousel is more than just an attraction - it’s a piece of history that he’s happy to preserve.
